The previous poll about open vector standards was pretty interesting thanks to those whom participated. Here's a new one about the OSGeo Foundation. I also added a new topic for the OSGeo since I have the feeling we'll hear from them regularly! :-) Also new is a 8.5 x 11 slashgeo poster made for the AAG, great thanks to the Very Spatial folks for helping slashgeo. And finally, if you missed our Open Budget announcement this week, here it is! Have a great weekend. Update: 03/04 19:50 GMT by S : Just found out slashgeo.org passed the half a million hits milestone yesterday, five months after its launch :-) More important: numbers of visits continues to rise (and so will the comments?).

slashgeo's Open Budget and Transparency [+]
Today slashgeo.org takes another step towards openness and transparency. We are providing our financial report to anyone interested as a demonstration of our willingness to be a truly open and a community-driven tool.

In short, it cost us about 2.50$/day to maintain the website. slashgeo's added value should come from the aggregated news and from user comments: if you can divert some time to participate by sharing comments and submitting stories, please do so. It is more important than money to us. We shared some slashgeo.org statistics a few weeks ago - go see them if you missed it.
Technology: New Poll about GIS Software Limitations [+]
I followed slashgeo user belg4mit's suggestion and provide a new poll about what inhibits our use of GIS software. Our previous poll about the OSGeo Foundation ended somewhat in favor of the new foundation. Somewhat because 38% believe the OSGeo will fail, be irrelevant, comes too late or does not know who they are. The future will tell us if a success this adventure must become.
